I seriously hope not - because what that article describes is a train
wreck.

a whole host of non compatible, non interoperating implementations of the
standard... which means it's not a bloody standard, is it?

Control 4 have simply slapped a 'pro' label on their own version of Zigbee,
forced it through the Zigbee alliance and declared it *the* standard - and
from the article, it's still pretty obvious that Control 4 are not happy
about interoperating...

What chance does the consumer have, when different Zigbee vendors have to
be dragged kicking and screaming to the idea of working together..

I'm apalled at the mention of Sony Samsung and the others implementing
zigbee as a replacement for IR remote control - and here we go again...
rather than four incompatible and awkward IR control systems, we will have
4 incompatible and awkward zigbee control systems..

Why is it the good technologies never win?

Barely over HDDVD losing out to CrapRay, and here's Zwave being beaten down
by Zigbee... *sigh*
