Hi Paul,

"U shaped" speaker placement will work, make sure you base the
placement on
where the TV will be for viewing not when pushed back to the wall
(especially the centre speaker).

Worth considering in-ceiling speakers with pivoting tweeters at the front
as
these will allow you to fire the sound more towards the listening position
rather than straight down at the floor.

Sub under the screen should be fine, and preferable to opposite corner (in
an ideal world you'd try it and see before you decided - as you don't have
that luxury go for the front under the screen).

Good Luck,

Nick

Subject: [ukha_d] Surround sound speaker Placement - TV in corner

Looking to put surround sound in master bedroom as OnKyo 2 Zone AV amp is
nearly as cheap as a plain stereo one for the ensuite and the Panasonic TV
whilst having Component inputs doesn't have an audio in

I am struggling though with where to put the speakers, all of the websites
I
can find seem to only deal in idealised boxes or rectangles with no doors
or
windows or other furntiure which isn't particulalrly helpful

The room is 4M square and the listerning point is central along one wall,
the TV can't go directly opposite that as the door to the Ensuite is in the
way, so it is having to go in the corner on a wall mount.

Hoping to use ceiling speakers to keep swmbo happy but am struggling with
placement on the Front L / R and Center (current thinking is to put them in
a U shape 'ish with center almost directly above Tv and then left and right
slightly forward and outside of that - if that makes sense)

The TV will need to be swiveled about 30 degrees in order to watch it which
makes me concerned about the above arrangement not working - or should I
twist the U shape through 30 degrees as well?

Also all the recommendations say have a sub at the front to the side of the
screen, this isn't possible either (due to other doors) so my choice is
either back left corner diagonaly opposite screen or basically underneath
it
- which should I go for??

Any assistance much appreciated as have to finish this over weekend to
enable decorators to start.

cheers

Paul
