Or don't waste your life (or energy) - buy a Popcorn !
...or keep your MKV files as is and use the excellent PS3 Media Server to
transcode on the fly to a format that the PS3 can play.
It took me ages to find this piece of software after I tried Tversity and
a few others but it just works and is being actively developed
