My 2c: cut out all the trying, bite the bullet and go for a PC running
Vista
Media Center. I recently replaced my TiVo + XBMC solution with a PC, and

been great. It can be a little tricky to get set up, but it was worth it.
I'm using it with Freeview, but there are freesat tuners available too.
