RE: WHS Backing up UPS Protected Clients

It's a known issue, Tim, though I think it's to do with the UPS
service
rather than batteries. I have a number of other machines that are powered
by
a UPS (but not running the UPS service) and they're fine. The laptops
backup
OK but one workstation that is on a UPS (and connected to that UPS via USB)
often doesn't, so when I get a warning that it's not been backed up, I kick
one off manually. At a guess, it's something to do with the way that the
UPS
can veto certain power-related events.

I haven't looked into it for a while, but you've prompted me to do some
more
research.

Steve

Subject: [ukha_d] WHS Backing up UPS Protected Clients

I have just noticed that my main work machine isn't being backed up by
WHS - despite always being on when the backups are scheduled. I can't
see a reason for this, but my machine "appears" as battery
powered -
its protected by a APC UPS & the APC monitoring software is installed
on this machine - I have read that WHS won't backup devices running on
batteries, - if this is true it might be the reason for my system not
backing up - Has anyone else with WHS got any machines backed up
whilst in this condition?

TIA

Tim.
