RE: [OT] Symbol 5700 barcode scanner to PC - can any help?

Hello,

I don't know if this is going to help you. But I will have a go.

Not all RS232 to USB adapters are the same. There are some that work with
some items and others don't. Double check the Serial Port number as I have
found in the past the Port number can change when you plug the USB to RS232
adapter into different ports.

May be download port logger software to see if you are actually getting any
sort of communication at all.

Or see if you can find an Antique computer somewhere that has a RS232 port
on it and try it on that.

Hope this gives you a couple of ideas.

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] Symbol 5700 barcode scanner to PC - can any help?

Hi all,

I recently bought a Symbol 5700 barcode scanner from ebay. After buying a
new power supply for it, a Synapse cable rs232 - > ps/2 cable
(CBA-K01-S07PAR) and then a ps2 to usb adaptor.... it still doesn't work.

I've searched Google but not been able to find anything to help (well, I've
found the manual but despite trying lots of settings nothing works).

Long shot I know, but can anyone help?

Thanks
John
