Re: HDD Choices

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions; I went for two Samsung
1TB F1s from Scan from one of their today-only offers. Very impressed
with the service so far from them; I ordered the stuff and then got a
text about an hour later to say the order had been dispatched and it
was delivered the next day.

However, I have a problem - what=92s the best way to format these?
I was planning to plug it into the USB-SATA bridge that I have (like
this one: http://www.automatedhome.co.uk/New-Products/SATA-Hard-Drive-USB-D=
ocking-Station.html)
and do it there, but while the drive will power-up it is not (yet)
recognised in XP.
Next I downloaded Samsung=92s EStools drive software and while it will
let me do a low level format, reports on the web seem to indicate that
this will take a day and a half! I have two drives to do so taking my
main machine out for that long isn=92t the most convenient thing=85

I guess I can add it as a slave and format from within XP but I=92m
always fearful that I=92ll format the wrong drive=85
What other options do I have? A boot disk and format within DOS?

Should I just bite the bullet and do a low level format?

Thanks,

Tim.
