Welcome.
I have been through the same process and am currently renovating our
house.
It is worth spending a couple of hours reading through the archives

Here is thread with my original ideas and how they developed.
For me I wanted to control Heating, Lights, Alarm and Music and ensure
that it all worked together. So I have finally chosen the following
Lighting - cbus. Nice switches and just works
Alarm - Comfort.
Music - Sonos. Just works
Heating - Smartfit.
Hope this helps and gets you started
