oh get over it you bunch of bloody luddites :P

Incandescent bulbs are old crappy technology - and the recent sets of CFL
bulbs that I have put in place are gorgeous. They come on instantly, rather
than the hideous slow start, they have a really nice pleasant light rather
than the sickly yellow...

and they are now, finally, available at decent prices.

For what it's worth, I have seen a marked improvement over the last 2 years
- I bought a couple of CFLs from IKEA and was pretty much appalled -
totally old school, with all the usual problems.

the Phillips ones I bought last weekend on the other hand - state of the
art. 11W units, so nice and bright - instant on (properly), lovely even
white colour... brilliant.

CFL is here, large EL panels in place of wallpaper are coming, so are super
brightness LEDs...

the future of lighting is (hah!) bright - but crappy old 100w bulbs are not
it.

good riddance to them!
