owl/electrisave usb receiver (£18) - anyone got one?

Hi all,

(long time lurker very infrequent poster)

Has anyone bought one of the OWL USB Receivers?

And managed to extract data from it (as opposed to using the supplied app)?

I've got one of the original Electrisave monitors which I assume is
compatible, I'm not interested in the owl receiver software but don't want
to buy one only to find that I can't get data from it for use in my own
app.  Does anyone know if the receiver is 'pure' USB or is it just a serial
to USB type converter (in which case I assume I'll be able to get hold of
the data)?
