RE: Bird box recording?
I equipped my birdbox with a small camera
(http://www.henrys.co.uk/cctv/pro240.htm)
from Henry's CCTV.
For capture, I use a Hauppauge WinTV USB device.
The first year I ran it, I used a motion-detection app to capture still
images, then used another application to combine the many JPEGs into an AVI
file. I can't remember exactly which apps, but I could find out if you
wanted.
However, I found that using motion detection was somewhat unsatisfying as
it
missed the briefest moments and you couldn't really get a feel for the
timespan over which things were happening.
Subsequently, I attached the WinTV to a server and ran Windows Media
Encoder
24 hours a day for about 6 weeks. A Kix script cycled the video files every
hour. Total video captured ran to 400GB! The fun, of course, came in
filtering out the boring bits.
It's an interesting exercise.

Subject: [ukha_d] Bird box recording?
Does anyone have a CCTV bird box recording solution? A friend wants to set
something up in a bird box - possibly motion controlled.
Any recommendations as to camera types/software and other kit?
Cheers,
Paul.
