Depends which domains they are.  Clearly not .uk ones, but £40 seems
a little high for a .com/net/org for three years.  Others can be
anything up to £150+ for a year.

Wouldn't be surprised if 123 charge you for transferring it elsewhere,
mind.  When your business model is to barely make money on the original
registration, you have to make a profit somewhere along the way.
