RE: Problems with Displaymate adapter

Tim

Yes, the documentation with the unit is almost exactly the same and talks
of
mirror and extended modes. What puzzles me is there is no option to change
the Displaylink resolution in mirror mode and it does not default to the
1280x720 resolution that the Onkyo receiver demands. It also does not
follow
the resolution of the primary display in this mirror mode either so maybe
it
simply will not work as I need it to.

It looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and install a new video card
with
DVI or HDMI out for connection to the screen.

Thanks

Neil B.

Neil,

I don't have one but have used multiple monitors in the past.

Looking at the text on http://www.displayl
<http://www.displaylink.com/installation.html>
ink.com/installation.html it
may be that this unit will only extend and not mirror your existing
desktop (the copy uses phrases like "spread out" and
"expanded
desktop").

However, looking here: http://www.displayl
<http://www.displaylink.com/multi_monitor_101.html>
ink.com/multi_monitor_101.html
There does appear to be a "mirror" option from the
"DisplayLink GUI"
taskbar icon.
(and also later on the same page, "mirror mode" i.e. "A
display can be
set to mirror by choosing "Mirror" from the DisplayLink
GUI.")

I'm not too familiar with DisplayLink so I don't know if what's talked
about above is all in the same product or features of different units.

HTH somewhat,

Tim.
