The last XBMC I downloaded about 4 months ago would also not light up
the DTS/dolby digital decoding light on my AMP.
I read somewhere that it was broken on that release so I am still using
a version over a year old which works fine.

Maybe try a different version of XBMC?

I need to play some more, sound was coming out fine on games and movies
but just not registering on my receiver as DTS as digital sources do.
