RE: Cumulus Weather software (free) now supports xAP and the Maplin weather station

I quite like the idea of my own weather station, and I quite like the
look =
of that one, but I'm put off by the idea of it being battery operated.

In an ideal world, I'd put it somewhere fairly inaccessible, like up on
the=
roof, so changing batteries every year would be a PITA. It would seem like=
this should be something that would be well suited to using a rechargeable=
battery with a solar panel, which should last a fair bit longer (5 years b=
etween battery changes would be OK), or at a push, wired up to an indoor
tr=
ansformer.

Has anyone ever done this?
