uPNP under Vista and Home Server

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.
Neither of the above OS's seem capable of talking a version of uPNP
that a router I own can understand.
I have tried to configure both a Vigor 2600+ and a DG834Gv2 Netgear and
neither want to play ball despite claiming to support config via uPNP.
I have the latest firmware available in both.
Am I on a hiding to nothing here or has someone managed to get one of
these to work??
If not does anyone have a DSL router (pref non wireless) they would
recomend that does work with both of the above
