Re: eBook Readers

I spent a good few weeks investigating eBook Readers and IMHO they're
not
much cop for anything other than genuine eBooks e.g. your typical Jackie
Collins novel.

Throw anything like a technical PDF at it and they're rubbish.

Of course, I guess it depends what you want it for? My needs were for
reading CISCO books and other such technical tomes.....

In the end I went for a Tablet PC of a few years vintage, back when they
were made to be keyboard-less..... I got a Compaq / HP TC1000 off eBay for
around £160 and am very pleased with it.

It runs Windows XP Tablet PC edition and is great for the type of material
I
want to read on it. It can pretty much be operated without the Stylus and
just using the hard-buttons for navigation around a PDF document.

With 1024*768 resolution a full page A4 PDF is perfectly readable in
portrait mode and battery life is around 3 hours or so - easily enough for
an evening's reading before returning it to it's docking station to
re-charge.

And when I get bored of reading it's got WiFi built in for a spot of web
surfing.......

YMMV though!
