RE: [OT] Splitting an MPG file...
Thanks guys - some useful suggestions there and ended up going (in
true
UKHA_D fashion) with the zero expense option of Windows Movie Maker and
Windows DVD Maker so not only do I now have two discs written and the third
currently encoding of last months London Marathon but I have now seen all
four cores of my newly acquired Q6600 loaded up to the roof in one hit! :-D
Archiving this Marathon footage off to DVD was the catalyst for last weeks
"upgrade" spurt - a Q6600 Quad Core, 4Gb (2 x 2Gb) of Corsair XMS
6400 RAM,
A nice little Gigabyte GA-P35-S3 motherboard, a Corsair 520W modular PSU
and
even an OEM copy of Vista Ultimate (gulp) ...
... this weekend will probably be going to get a graphics card for it! I'm
wondering whether I should have gone for a board that supported SLi but as
I
don't do gaming then it would have been a bit of a waste ... just wondering
which 8800GT card to go for as there's almost a doubling in price between
the cheapest and most expensive 512Mb cards as they should be pretty much
the same in terms of performance (only a few are overclocked). There's also
the 9800 based cards available too ... hmmm ...
BAH! Bloody decisions!
Phil
