Hi Ben,

=20

The 17th edition of the regs came in to force at the start of the year, but
shouldn=92t change what your doing. It will all be done at the CU. As all
circuits need to be RCD protected by RCBO=92s or 3 way split load board
whi=
ch
has a main switch and 2 mcb=92s for smokes and fridge. Then 1 rcd for half
=
the
house then another rcd for the other half.=20

Any circuits that are not on an rcd need to be run in earth metal conduit
down the wall unless the cable are 50mm below the surface.

Ring circuits can no longer have fixed loads of more then 2kw e.g oven or
heaters they need to be on there own radial circuit.

I would lay the board out as follows by using rcbo=92s ( they are about
=A3=
30
each but should come down in price later this year)

=20

1.	Cooker 32A 6mm
2.	Kitchen ring 32A 2.5mm
3.	Downstairs ring 32A 2.5mm
4.	Upstairs ring 32A 2.5mm
5.	Node 0 ring 32A 2.5mm
6.	Outside socket ring or radial depending on number of sockets and
where they are located=20
7.	HiFi radial 20A 2.5mm
8.	C-bus 1 radial 20A 2.5mm (2 c-bus units)
9.	C-bus 2 radial 20A 2.5mm (2 c-bus units)
10.	Immersion heater 16A 1.5mm
11.	Fridge 10A 1.5mm ( mcb not rcbo)
12.	Boiler 10A 1.5mm
13.	Alarm 6A 1.0mm
14.	Smokes 6A 1.0mm (mcb not rcbo)

If you need to speak to me just ring anytime

=20

thanks

Subject: [ukha_d] Planning Ring Mains and Circuits

=20

Hi All

I am starting to think about the planning of the ring mains within the=20
house. Lighting will probably be an automated system (CBUS) so the=20
wiring for that is all taken care of.

The whole house will be gutted and I am intending to run new Ring=20
Mains for sockets. House is about 240sq m.

Are there any guidelines?

I know each ring main cannot cover more than 100sq m.
Any idea on the maximum double outlets on each ring?

Here are my thoughts

Kitchen Ring main
Dedicated Ring for HiFi - Stopping interference
Ring Main for Node 0 Wiring Cabinet and Servers
Circuit for Outside Sockets
Circuit for Cooker
Circuit for Immersion Heater
Upstairs Ring main
Downstairs Ring main

Anything I have missed?

regards
Ben
