Jamie,
We've been using a similar model for a couple of months now, we have
the Draytek Vigor 2910G (
http://www.draytek.co.uk/products/vigor2910.html
) and then use
T-Mobile USB dongle on Pay as you go for =A34 per 24 hours of usage (12
midnight to 12 midnight fixed - not a rolling period).

The only challenge is making sure PAYG account is topped up - but a
=A350 load lasts a while. But its worth considering contract if used
regularly.

Seems to be reliable (network coverage dependant) and our engineers
take it on-site when they need to do system programming (and therefore
need access to our servers) and the site doesn't have ADSL yet. Often
in cities you get HSDPA speeds - which is pretty speedy! Skype also
seems to work (although T-Mobile say no) - but I guess if you abuse
the network they will terminate it.

I've also used it in training events to share the connection via WiFi
- making our own "hotspot".

Both were from Broadbandbuyer.co.uk:

No association with BBB, they seemed cheapest and delivered next day!

Ben

failover capability with 3G. I've got an on-going issue with my ADSL
line - normally it's fine, but every 7-8 weeks it suddenly becomes
unstable and I'll lose internet access for something like 1-5 days,
then the fault clears itself. So far I've not managed to get a BT
engineer out when the fault is actually happening, by the time they
appear it's cleared itself and the line tests out really well. And of
course the engineers can't fix what they can't see. (Yes, this is an
ongoing saga and my problem is with the bureaucrats who can't get an
engineer out fast enough, not the engineers themselves who've been
great.) The best they can suggest is it's some form of
electro-magnetic interference, but I can't think of anything that is
happening on a 2+ month cycle that could be causing it. Ho hum.

rather than a nice to have. In the old days it was used for a bit of
surfing and email, now it's used for remote access to the IP cameras,
Cortex and the alarm systems. If I'm away, I want to be able to access
the house systems remotely and if something goes wrong I want the
house to be tell me :-) So the thought was go for some kind of
wireless back to the ADSL line.
