RE: OSXBMC Release 0.1.7

> What are you impressions of OSXBMC so far? Hidef playback?

I posted a link to this page last week which says the combination of 2Ghz
min and OSXBMC should do all modern 1080p ok
http://blog.kozubik.com/john_kozubik/2008/03/high-definition.html

I'm still trying (in vain) to source a cheap Intel Mac mini (used ones are
making near retail on eBay!). I've played with it on my MacBook and iMac
an=
d
it's superb (really confused the kids when the saw it on the iMac in the
kitchen). If the rumored mini revisions come soon I might buy one and hook
it up as my HD player in the AV room (but then I'll need a new AV amp and
H=

projector) :-\

> Do you think it has greater HA hooks/possibilities than the XBOX?

I think it has great potential as a media player that (now it has XBMC)
wil=
l
play anything you throw at it and look really good. But where it fails is
on price. I don=92t want to spend =A3500 per room for a media player. I
d=
on't
see it being especially useful for HA either.

Yeah yeah ;)
