Fw: TiVo About to Re-launch in the UK

1. HD
2. No Sky contract - been using Freesat from Sky for over a year - still=20
have to pay =A310 for the PVR features.

Sky HD with a decent selection of channels is going to cost you hundreds=20
per yer. Of course, if you want Sports, its the only way to go.

Why?
Just asking=20

Yep - very clunky. Once you know how to get around, its bloody fast.

After having Sky for so many years tho, I'm off for the land of a
freesat=20
HD PVR in July.

I bought my folks a Sky+ box two Christmases ago as I thought they'd use

it
(and they do) but for the hell of me I couldn't work out how to get to
see=20
a
program that I'd recorded ...

... "TV Guide" and "red" (IIRC) is so obvious of course
- I don't=20
understand
why I didn't think of it straight away - seems much simpler than hitting

the
"Recorded TV" button on MCE.

Credit where it's due of course - it does generally work pretty well but
there are just some major howlers that, as the closed system that it is,
just shouldn't be there.

TiVo would just go off and record stuff for me based on what I'd told it
I
liked so I never used to have to worry about whether there was a new=20
season
of Top Gear coming up - it was in TiVos wishlist so TiVo would go and=20
record
it. I always had "new" films to watch as the entire
"films" category was

in
TiVos wishlist (but not as high a priority as Top Gear) so TiVo would go

and
record films whenever they were on and it wasn't doing anything else.

I have to say I'd be the first person in line if there was an up-to-date
multiple DVB-T or DVB-S (unfortunately my DVB-T reception here is
abysmal)
tuner version of TiVo available... *sigh*

Oh - I also don't like that you can't get recordings off a Sky+ or SkyHD

box
nor do I particularly like giving Murdoch loads of money each month - it

was
bad enough that they did the EPG for TiVo and I had to pay them for
that.
