Ah, manage to prise it open - there was a bit of double sided tape in
the case that was preventing it coming out.
Having taken the case and assembly apart, the lights seem to be much more
responsive by touching the inner plastic sheet (closer to the contacts).
Maybe that also part of the unreliability of the control?
Anyone know how these types of touch controls work? There are pcb touch
pads with plenty of resistors before the controller circuitry.
