Security of mains ethernet adapters?

  • Subject: Security of mains ethernet adapters?

I'm thinking about getting a pair of these 'ethernet over the main
wiring'
adapters to push the house lan out to corner of the house I can't get cat5
to (I know, I know) and the wireless seems to have a dead spot there too.

My only problem (apart from the cost of the things) is the lingering doubt
over security, I've had a google and various pages talk about hacking into
them, and some mention that it has to be on the same ring main etc, that
data can't travel across the meter etc.

I just wondered if anyone had any experience/thoughts/knowledge on the
subject?
