A quick update from the horses mouth :)
"for native apps you need to code in lua, otherwise a SqueezeCenter
(was slimserver) plugin can make menus too"
So we can fire http, serials requests etc from the SqueezeCenter...looking
better and better! :)

I have seen one first hand ( friends with the guy who writes the code for
em :) ) I was very impressed.
The controller itself is $299 and will work with an existing Squeeze Box.
