A blow to the Evil Empire?
http://www.wired.com/entertainment/music/news/2008/01/rip_drm
As Sony BMG finally join the other three in ditching DRM - meaning
that all four of the big recording companies are now going to offer
their music as untarnished, unlocked MP3s...
Steve Jobs and his hand wringing "we would drop Drm if we
could..."
bluff is going to be called.
Any takers on whether Apple will now get with the program and
drop "Fair Play" (probably the most disingenious product name
ever!),
or will they continue to make nice noises with one face whilst
building a monopoly with the other?
from the article:
"As major labels take Jobs' advice, music fans who want unrestricted
digital downloads will likely rejoice as new online outlets arise to
compete with Apple"
hell yeah. where do I sign up?
