iPod Touch - Pricing and track count questions

Afternoon.

I'm thinking of buying an iPod Touch (mainly for the car as I'm getting
tired of cutting a disc whenever I want to listen to some new/different
music but I'm also quite interested in using it in the house to control
iTunes).

Is there any chance that the Touch will come down in the boxing day/new
year sales? Or are Apple quite strict about their product pricing which
means that there won't be much point in waiting?

Also, when Apple say that their 8GB Touch will hold up to 1,750 tracks
what track quality does that refer to?

Thanks in advance,
Dave C
