splitting DVD chapter for media server

Peeps, I've got a 2-disc DVD movie that I've successfully been able to
merge into a single VIDEO_TS folder so it now plays as a single movie,
that's all great. There's one more thing I'd like to do however, and
that is to just trim a couple of minutes off the start. What I want to
lose isn't a separate chapter however, so I'm not sure how (or if) it
can be done. Chapter 1 of the title is about 6 mins long, the first 4
mins is a completely black screen with the theme tune playing, then at
4mins 10sec the titles start to roll. Once the titles have finished and
the actual movie starts it changes to chapter 2.

I don't therefore just want to omit the whole of chapter 1, since that
would also lose all the titles, and give a somewhat "unnatural"
start to
the movie. Is it possible to reauthor the DVD so that I can just trim
those redundant 4 minutes off the start? Is it easy to do? can it be
done with free software?

Cheers

Paul G.
