I'm running my HDMI cables direct to the LCD without faceplates;
partly as they're hidden behind and won't be seen and partly to
address the fear of loss in pic quality. Have you gone for a
"budget"
or "performance" HDMI cable?
Instead of a brush-outlet I guess you could fabricate something from a
modular (i.e. clip-in) faceplate using two blank covers? Cut a
half-moon into each to make a circular outlet for the cable to come
through, and fit with (two halves of) a rubber grommet to avoid the
cable chafing.

A bit of a fiddle but maybe neater than the brush outlet?
