The plug is a 4P4C - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4P4C

I made my cables using four core alarm cable (so a modem lead would be
fine), a crimp tool, and connectors from CPC/Maplin/RS.  I wired them
back to a Phaedrus VIOM (+relay boards) in node 0.  It all works very
well.
