Totally back this up.

Had a new case that wouldn't boot with HD and CD.
Booted fine with no CD or HD.
Booted fine with CD drive only (any)
Booted fine with HD drive only (any)
With both, got nowhere.

Turned out the PSU wasn't pushing enough juice - replaced it, and all
was back to normal.  Quite easy for one of the power rails to be a
little under spec, and load on the others to cause it to dip below
spec. (full load on CD/HD 12v rail was dropping 5v rail).

It was a fault but a real head-scratcher, especially as I'd been
drinking :-)
