I can highly recommend a Central Vac System. Retro-fitted ours two
years ago and two outlets was enough to cover the four bedroom house.
I also have one by the garage door so I can clean the car as well.

Looks expensive on first glance but the system is so much quieter,
easier, quicker and powerful in comparison to even a good quality pull
along cleaner. You can also get accessories to clean up ash from fires
and water. I use mine with my circular saw and it works a treat.
