Re: Vigor 2910VG

Personally, I found the Vigor's (I have used a 2200, 2600X and 2600VGi)
wireless to be poor (but then, I find all wireless to be sh*t compared
to the wired equivelant!!).

I used to use the Vigor as an endpoint straight onto the internal
network itself, and it worked perfectly well - fast, stable and so on.
I used to stay connected to the VPN for whole working day, and didn't
come across any protocols or apps that wouldn't work through the tunnel.

What I did latterly was to disable the Vigor's own VPN, and configure
it for pass through, to the Outside NIC on my Small Business Server
2003 - so that the Vigor's wireless provided a connection to a
"DMZ".

I used 192.168.1.x on my internal LAN, and 192.168.10.x onb the
outside - the Vigor then providing NAT out onto the proper internet
connection.

This worked even better (if you have a suitable server of course ;) )
and had the extra advantage that when I switched to Be broadband, I
just swapped the router (They supply their own called a "BeBox")
and
configured the PAT/Pass through, and the rest of the network stayed the
same.

nice, fast and stable, and it means that a Wireless connection grants
you internet access but not access to the internal network until you
make a VPN connection. works for me.

Ian.
