Direct Current Lighting

I have started looking at adding photo cells on my roof of my home
here in California and I looked at the fact that I need an inverter to
convert my DC generation into AC. But then I started to think that
maybe I would gain some benefit to keeping the lights on a DC source.
Does anyone have any articles or information on a commercially
produced product to supply LED's or other DC light sources as an
alternative for home lighting?
