RE: Which SATA Drives?
To be quite honest you'll be fine with *ANY* drives ... the 24x7 rated
units
are more rated as 24x7 for data access (i.e. hammered all the time) whereas
in a domestic situation that is unlikely to happen.
I usually leave mine spinning all the time and some of the 160Gb drives I
have here (well, *ALL* of the 160Gb drives I have here) are over 5 years
old. Some of them came to me from a data centre where they had been run
hard
and permanently accessed for a year and they're only the old Maxtor 540DX
and the only one of those to have failed was one which I tried plugging in
whilst the enclosure was powered and got the power connector wrongly
aligned!
