Not true according to Apples upgrade info. You will have a temporary
number
while your existing number is migrated your existing provider assuming you
are not currently with O2, but the process is no different for anyone
changing provider and taking their number with them.

I've heard on another list that you have to have a new phone number too,
but
not seen it confirmed anywhere.
