For cars, a move from door leading edge to door trailing edge door
switches made a big difference.
With leading edge switching, the door can be open up to 100mm at the
rear of the door before the door switch makes.
With trailing edge switching, that can be reduced to <5mm with careful
switch placement and properly set hinges and striker.
So in short, properly planning the sensing makes the biggest difference...
