RE: Re: [OT] External Hard Disk
Yep.. I've done both.=20
=20
1st XBOX soldered in a Executer2.6 chip, 2nd/3rd/4th XBOX used the
softmod.=
The softmod is definitely easier and quicker. The only real reasons for c=
hoosing an actual modchip nowadays is if you want to play games on XBOX
LIV=
E (and even this is possible with softmod as long as you setup an account
b=
efore hand), or you want to increase your harddrive capacity (which,
again,=
is also possible via softmod but is much more involved).
=20
If your playing games off line or just using for XBMC then softmod is
defin=
itely the way to go.
=20
If any one needs the "hack" then send me an 8meg (or higher)
memory card + =
Stamped Address envelope and I'll gladly copy them on for you. You'll
also=
need a copy of the original SplinterCell game to boot the softmod installe=

TBH a modchip is less grief - =A320 for the chip - 5 mad minutes with a=20
soldering iron and all is well (and easy to add a big HDD). I am the
most=20
cack-handed arse when it comes to electrionics and even I managed it -=20
Really rate my XBMC especially as I "made it myself". Mine is
"plumbed=20
in" via powerline networking and it couldn't be beter - Well p'raps=20
turning it on by the remote - I know there is a mod to do this, but as I=20
have stashed mine breaking out only the remote LED on an umbilical wire
I=20
can't be ar5ed.
I would seriously recommend taking a look at one if you haven't recently -=
=20
Mine reside close to M1 Watford Gap if you are passing.
