RE: Movie server

Depends on what your criteria are for your system ... if I was
starting out
myself and I could afford it I'd go for a Kaleidescape.

As a file server the Mac Mini with a load of firewire drives does
exceptionally well as a way of holding data on a network in a format that
is
reasonably rugged, reasonably reliable and easy to expand but don't expect
to just buy one and have an install-and-go solution. I have a few bits of
code that I run on the Mac to make it present stuff to the outside world as
I want it to and I also have a little front end GUI that I ended up writing
on the PC for the movies because all the ones I tried that I'd downloaded
were too complex, too demanding of resources, too slow or some combination
thereof.
