I've been looking for the same thing. At the moment, an affordable
iSCSI appliance doesn't exist AFAIK. I looked to see whether I could
hack my Linkstation, and I think that it would be possible, but
decided I didn't want to go there just yet.

What I am currently using is a pair of low power Lex VIA machines
running CentOS 5 Linux and freeware IET - iSCSI Enterprise Target
(http://iscsitarget.sourceforge.net/)
- which is pretty easy to
compile and configure.

Having got a good setup with IET I may not bother with the appliance,
as Linux offers a good deal more flexibility - for example my pair of
servers run as a high availability cluster which works great with
iSCSI. If you're interested in more detail, let me know.
