You can only match the native resolution of your Plasma using VGA.
HDMI supports specific resoutions at specific frequencies and so can
be limiting.

As a result HDMI connections result in overscan, hence why you may
see 750p shown on your display rather than 720p. This is when the
TV's scaler kicks in and you may not get 1:1 pixel mapping if your
aspect ratio is to fit everything in the panel screen. Otherwise
some people just live with overscan.

The best way to compensate for this is to you Powerstrip or use a
feature in the ATI Catalyst driver set up to compensate for
Overscan.
