The easiest way was just to open it I found

1. Removed the hard drive and connected it to a USB caddy (with 2.5"
to 3.5" ide adaptor)
2. Installed "MacDrive" trial which allows you to see MAC
partitions in Windows.
3. Dropped sshd into a bin directory.
4. Edited the rc.local to fire up sshd
5. Put the drive back in the ATV and booted it up.

Can now ssh in with putty. Username: frontrow , Password: frontrow

Then you can do as you wish.
