Think I'd agree that opening in event of fire doesn't seem like a
good idea esp if near the fire itself.  If there are people waiting
for rescue but not fire in the room then opening to release smoke
would seem good.

OT a bit but AFAIK the Velux integra windows use iohomecontrol RF
which is encrypted/secure or something - so how are you planning to
integrate the opener into the HA?  I am interested as planning to
automate to control temperature with a south facing velux.
