The indicator brightness (which I think includes the backlight) can be
configured to follow the level of a group address.

For example, I have a group called "C-Bus Indicators" which is
set to a
low level when Comfort is armed to night mode, so that indicators in the
bedrooms do not appear as bright.

When Comfort is set to Security Off, the indicators return to full
brightness.

I'm pretty sure the DLT's backlight is also dimmed when this group address
changes - I can check later and let you know if this will help.
