A fan to create moving air over the heat sink will make a significant
improvement to it's thermal performance.

Semiconductor reliability (as in the mean time between failures) halves
for every 10deg C rise in temperature.

Does you discrete little fan suck or blow? What you really want is a
blower on the bottom (or side) and a sucker on top to help the natural
convection.
