Re: £99 HDMI HD Media Player Bargain!?
I've done a bit more reading around, and unfortunately it looks like
this device has too many shortcomings to be useful.
For DVDs it only handles individual vobs - no ifos and no iso images -
so there is no menu support.
On the HD side, it cannot cope with bitrates above ~ 17Mbps, which rules
out streaming ripped hd-dvds or BluRay disks (King Kong for example
peaks at 45Mbps). That bitrate is also too low for some HDTV sources.
So, yet again, it's nearly but not good enough. One day we may get
there, but until then it's the trusty HTPC and endless tweaking.
