hX10 and surge multiplugs

Hi,

I'm sure this may have been discussed in these forums before, but I
couldn't find any relevent thread.

My X10 has started playing up, both in my Node 0 (Comfort alarm
TX/RX X10) and Node 1(AV Kit - Xantech IR receiver converting to
X10) and I've narrowed it down to Surge protectors being used in the
vicinity of the X10 emitterss (CM12U's).

I need to get X10 operational again. I was trying to find out the
follwoing :
1) Does there exist any type of equpment surge protector which is
perhaps more X10 friendly ?
2) Should I replace the CM12U's with something which is more
sensitive ?
3) Do I really need surge protectors given that I have trip
switches in my fusebox ? (Just wondering what real benefits the
surge protectors give me)

Any advice would be appreciated.
