A vote here for Homeseer HYPERLINK "http://www.homeseer.com/"www.homeseer.c=
om but it's getting more expensive as time goes by, more features are
added=
. There is a one month free trial.
=20
I think once you have it you will use many more of its features...
=20
Check out the forum http://board.homeseer.com to see if
anyone else is usin=
g similar hardware to yours.=20

Talking to an installer for Niko on the HYPERLINK "http://www.usd.uk.com/"w=
ww.usd.uk.com stand they had a similar problem, not sure of the motor
suppl=
ier, they contacted the manufacturer and it was possible to modify the
moto=
r for discrete open and close connections...
=20
I like the idea of curtain control, especially in the master bedroom with
5=
windows... but I was quoted =A32.5K at the show just for the motors and tr=
ack, and SWMBO still has to source the actual curtains....

Automated Home DiscussionI have had 3 "add-a-motor" units
controlling curta=
ins here and they work great. The add-a-motor is very dumb and opens or
clo=
ses when power is applied so I've been using simple pin type mechanical
tim=
eswitches to control them. It works OK but is a bit hit and miss and this
t=
ime of the year I'm always adjusting them as they open too late and close
t=
oo early.=20
About 2 years ago I bought a basic X10 system to control them - a CM12U
and=
4 x AM12U switches. All looked good on paper and it sort of worked but the=
PC software was flakey and occasionaly it would "miss" commands
and get ou=
t of sync so the curtains would close when they should be opening - no
time=
to noodle so went back to timeswitches.
However in a wave of optimism inspired by having to set the gazillion
clock=
s in the house this morning I'm ready to give it another go. Where is the
b=
est place to start with software to talk to the CM12 ? I'm a PC not Linux
b=
loke but want something very simple and hopefully therefore cheap or even
l=
ess than cheap. Also any firmware updates for the CM12 - I'm assuming it
ha=
s firmware ?=20
