Yes there are.  All the ones I've seen reviews of state that the
resolution and performance of the USB adaptors is limited.

When you combine this with the cost of the adaptor compared with a
fairly cheap dual VGA card it gets even less attractive!

For it to work at all you *must* have USB2.

It seems to me that these adaptors are aimed at the laptop market,
where this is often the only way to get dual monitors.
