RE: [OT] Adobe Reader 8 and Vista... - an alternative?

I with you 100% on this; I've just discovered the Foxit Reader
(http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php),
which is free, small
and fast. No junk.

Subject: RE: [ukha_d] [OT] Adobe Reader 8 and Vista... - an alternative?

The thing that *really* annoys me with Acrobat is the way it
"infests"
various bits of MY machine without so much as a by your leave...

i.e.
It always creates a desktop icon - without asking me
It always installs some poxy "speed launcher" crap in my startup
group -
without asking me
It usually adds itself to my quicklaunch bar - without asking me
It usually adds some auto-update checking crap to the "run" group
in my
registry - without asking me
It usually adds its icon to the top level of my start menu - without
asking me

And even more annoyingly, it reasserts all this bullsh**t every time you
install one of its updates, so I have to "de-infect" my PC every
time I
get an Adobe update...

And some people say Microsoft take liberties with your PC!?!?!? - Adobe
is just one step away from a virus writer if you ask me...

Grr.... - you managed to find my "annoy" button, and pressed
it...
